Colorado Railroad Museum

We have an activity planned at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, on Tuesday, April 30th. 

The museum is a collection of trains and exhibits including both real and model railroad items. There is a huge HO scale layout indoors. Visitors are allowed to climb aboard to explore many of the train cars and locomotives throughout the grounds. 

The group rate is $11 per person (senior entry ticket plus tour fee), and we can each pay upon arrival. There is a group size limit, based on the number of people per guide, and the number of available guides is limited.

I’ve set the tour start time for 1:30 pm, and they suggest we arrive by 1:15 pm (to provide time for everyone to purchase tickets). The tour lasts about 45 to 60 minutes, and we can all wander the grounds for another hour or so. There is a lot to see, both indoors and outdoors, with the tour focusing on highlights.  I have visited several times, so I will try to guide anyone interested to see areas that the highlight tour doesn’t cover.

We should finish by 3:30. Since this is between lunch and dinner time, one suggestion for afterwards is the New Terrain Brewing Company. They have a daily food truck (their calendar doesn’t show April yet) and offer a few non-alcoholic beverages as well as beers.  I am also considering restaurants in the nearby Colorado Mills area, that will be open at 3/3:30.
