Two milestone events (5 to 65+ years ago)

Human Spaceflight:

1965 – LAUNCH: AS-103 (SA-9), LC37B, CCAFS – Boilerplate Apollo CSM, Pegasus micrometeorite satellite. MILESTONE: 60 years ago. 

Military and Classified Programs:

1962 – MM was awarded a contract by Space Systems Division to study the design criteria for a standardized Titan III launch 

1972 – LAUNCH FAILURE: Classified spacecraft, MM Titan 33B, SLC-4W, VAFB 

Exploration and Interplanetary Programs:

NONE

Earth-Monitoring and Civil Weather Satellite programs:

NONE

Commercial Programs:

1999 – LAUNCH: JCSAT-6, LM Atlas IIAS, LC36A, CCAFS 

Test, ICBM, FBM programs:

1955 – MIT was awarded a contract to develop an all-inertial guidance system with AC Delco for the Martin Titan I ICBM program  – this technology was later transferred to the Atlas program and Titan I used a radio guidance system – MILESTONE: 70 years ago

1962 – TEST FAILURE: MM Titan II (N-7) explodes in first silo test at VAFB

1962 – GD Atlas D launched, 576-B2, VAFB

1963 – LAUNCH FAILURE: MM Titan II, 395-C, VAFB 

Other:

NONE
