Join your MARS friends for a tour of a treasure in our backyard. The historic Highlands Ranch Mansion has been home to some of Denver’s notable families including cattle barons, oil tycoons, prominent Denver socialites, as well as political and business leaders who have helped create the Colorado we know today – names such as John Springer, Waite Phillips and Lawrence Phipps, Jr.
Discover spacious landscaped grounds, expansive vistas, picturesque architectural details and a deep connection to our western heritage. Open to the public for tours, community events and educational programs. We will meet at the mansion at 10:00 on Tuesday, October 15, for a docent-led tour (approximately one hour) of the fascinating history and features of this house which was used in the filming of Centennial, the James Michener miniseries from way back. The address is 9950 E. Gateway Drive, Highlands Ranch,  80126, and there’s plenty of free parking. Be advised it is a bit of a jaunt up to and through the mansion.
Those who wish can meet after the tour for lunch at the Lazy Dog at 43 Centennial (near Broadway and C470) at 11:30.
Please register with Carolyn Malaby at csucarolyn@gmail.com by October 4 and tell her if you’re doing lunch as well.
