The photos today are of the launch of the first manned Gemini mission in 1965 (Gemini 3) and the crew (Gus Grissom and John Young). The mission was the first US mission where the crew actively changed their orbital parameters in flight and was also the first US mission to launch two or more astronauts. The mission designators officially changed to Roman numerals starting with Gemini IV. Photo Credits: NASA.
