One milestone event (5 to 65+ years ago)

1960 – An article is published in Time magazine on this day in 1960 about “Titan’s Troubles”.  This article was referred to me by Greg Bollendonk in late 2023. This article came less than a month after another catastrophic Titan test launch failure that was featured in the December events.  The contents of the article are not included in these events.  MILESTONE: 65 years ago

Photo today: Anthony Mastalir, Space Launch Delta 30 commander, and Maj. Gen. Deanna Burt, Combined Force Space Component Command commander, unveil Vandenberg’s new U.S. Space Force name during a base renaming and 30th Space Wing redesignation ceremony in 2021.  VAFB was originally declared operational on this day in 1959.  Photo Credit: spacecom.mil (photo is credited to a federal agency and is in the public domain).
