2004 – LAUNCH: USA 179 (NRO-1), LM Atlas IIAS, LC36A, CCAFS – Final Atlas IIAS launch – MILESTONE: 20 years ago

Exploration and Interplanetary Programs:

Earth-Monitoring and Civil Weather Satellite programs:

NONE

Commercial Programs:

1992 – LAUNCH: GE Satcom C4, Delta 7925, LC17B, CCAFS

Test, ICBM, FBM programs:

1962 – First MM Titan II operational missile accepted by USAF at Davis-Monthan AFB, Arizona

1964 – LAUNCH: GD Atlas F, 576-D, VAFB – MILESTONE: 60 years ago

1970 – LAUNCH (3): Lockheed Polaris A2, SSBN618, ETR

1986 – LAUNCH: Lockheed Trident C4, SSBN630, ETR

The photos today are of a typical Atlas IIAS configuration and of the patch for the USA-179 (NROL-1) mission, the last Atlas IIAS launch on this day in 2004.  An acceptable public domain photo of the launch was not found.
