The first image today is an artist’s conception of a launch using a Titan III from the Dyna-Soar (X-20) program. The second image shows the various configurations planned for Dyna-Soar. After the contracts were awarded in 1959, the Titan launch vehicle was upgraded to a Titan III in 1961. The program was canceled on December 10, 1963.
