Human Spaceflight:

1996 – LAUNCH: STS-79 (Atlantis), LC39A, KSC – 6 person crew, Spacehab/Mir.  Crew: WIlliam Readdy, Terrence Wilcox, Jay Apt, Thomas Akers, Carl Walz.  To Mir (EO-22): John Blaha; From Mir (EO-22): Shannon Lucid

Military and Classified Programs:

1966 – LAUNCH: RCA DMSP Block-4A F7, Thor Burner 2, SLC10W, VAFB

1966 – LAUNCH: Classified mission, GD Atlas SLV-3/Lockheed Agena D, SLC4E, VAFB

Exploration and Interplanetary Programs:

NONE

Earth-Monitoring and Civil Weather Satellite programs:

1987 – LAUNCH: GE (RCA) Transit O27, O29, Scout G1, SLC5, VAFB

Commercial Programs:

NONE

Test, ICBM, FBM programs:

1966 – LAUNCH: MM Titan II, 396-C, VAFB

1969 – LAUNCH: GD Atlas F/Trident, 576-A3, VAFB – MILESTONE: 55 years ago

1992 – LAUNCH: MM Peacekeeper, LF02, VAFB

The photos today are from the STS-79 mission and include a unique photo of the stack on the pad from above, the crew of STS-79, and a view of the MIR space station. STS-79 was the first shuttle mission to rendezvous and dock with a fully-completed MIR space station.
