The artist’s conception today is of the Mars Ascent Vehicle (MAV) that will be used to bring samples from the Martian surface back to Earth. LM won the award in 2022 to build that crucial piece of the sample return mission, as well as awards for cruise stage development and the Earth re-entry system. The mission is targeted for the mid-2030’s and the Perseverance Rover is already leaving samples that will be retrieved.
