The photos today are of Comet Tempel 1, which became the secondary mission for Stardust (NExT) after the comet and interstellar dust particles were dropped off at Earth. This comet was the target for the Deep Space Mission and Stardust imaged the impact area. The photo from Stardust is rather blurry and the effects of the impact are not very apparent.
